KAM'S ROAST INDONESIA - PANTAI INDAH KAPUK

I AM SO HAPPY TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THAT KAM'S ROAST (GOOSE) IS FINALLY IN INDONESIA!!! For those who are not familiar, Kam's Roast Goose is a highly popular roast goose restaurant originated from Hong Kong and their Hong Kong branch has been awarded the Michelin star for years now, so you know what they say, when it's Michelin awarded, it better be good!

Before you read further, unfortunately what I am about to say next will let a lot of people down, Kam's is highly famous for their goose, but after further internal discussions about the market and the tough AVA regulation they decide to change their signature product with ducks, their Singapore branch also has no goose on the menu, that's why they prefer to be called Kam's Roast instead of Kam's Roast Goose.

I went here for a quick lunch with sis and you know I am an observer, especially for little details, I don't have to get in with the details, but I saw this man who (according to the waiters) is the person who grants franchise permission, and he was so busy serving the customers and making sure of this and that, I can tell that this restaurant and what they have in store are supervised carefully by the Hong Kong team (prolly after being awarded by Michelin), even the current restaurant manager is the Singapore branch's restaurant manager, I believe he's here for training purpose as well.

Since they're still at their soft opening days, not every menu is available, they currently have no soup and porridge (heard it's coming in a few weeks), but rice and their signature Hong Kong noodle are available! The price tag for most of the food are not the cheapest, but fair considering all the ingredient is imported for major quality control, expect to spend IDR 300-400k for two, still, way cheaper that what you have to spend in Singapore for two!
Wonton Noodles - IDR 59k
Aside from Wonton Noodles, the other one available at the moment is the Seasonal Vegetable Noodles (IDR 39k) which I translate as plain noodle (minus the wonton), they also have the Wonton Soup (with 6 pcs of wonton - IDR 59k). I like the fact that the noodle's pretty springy (even though the one in HK felt a tad springi-er for me) with this eggy aroma that I fond of from Hong Kong noodles! The noodle's topped with shrimp roe for fragrance and a hint of flavor. I have to let you guys know that if it's your first time having Hong Kong noodles like this kind, don't expect the kind of seasoning like our local's "Mie Ayam", they're lighter and more plain in flavor, and while you can have it just like that, the noodle's sometimes meant to be paired with other toppings like meat, wontons for more kick and fun.
The wonton was decent: meaty and quite tasty.
NOW MOVING ON TO THE ONE WHICH GOT ME SUPER IMPRESSED, or should I say, #TERNANGIS2020 - THE MEAT PLATTER AS SEEN BELOW!!! Aside from the roasted goose, one of Kam's signature product which gained it some recognition is the "Toro" Char Siu (BBQ Pork Ribs - IDR 180k), it was such heaven on my palate!!! The "Toro" is made from premium pork belly which is marinated and seasoned with their secret sauce then perfectly cooked afterwards, I had one of those "melt in your mouth" moment yesterday! It's super juicy, fatty, and tender in the same time, such a beautiful harmony of flavors and I am infact, CRAVING FOR ONE!!! LEGIT MUST TRY!

The Pork Belly's intentionally seasoned to be a tad salty but I LOVE IT! I think I have not eaten a pork belly this good in a while, I mean a lot of good ones but the crunchiness and the fattiness of this pork belly is on a different level, again maybe the imported ingredients? Why can't pork belly like this be paired with Babi Guling seasoning I swear it would be cray good!
 SO GOOD I CAN'T :"(
 Roast Duck (1/4 Upper - IDR 170k, 1/4 Lower - IDR 180k, Half - IDR 310k, Whole - IDR 548k)
I think my picture kinda did the justice this time, as you can probably see, it's so thick, so meaty and fatty in the same time and I promise you I didn't alter the image LOL! Even tho there's still a difference between goose and duck as they have their own unique character, the roast duck was not bad at all: still meaty, still tender with the base seasoning that's already good enough, but if you fancy, their signature plum sauce is served separately, for preference, but I really didn't need one.
I don't know, but even from my first visit, if they can keep up with the quality and performance, I honestly think this will be one of those restaurants in Pantai Indah Kapuk that can actually survive for a certain period of time (well let's hope longer), and one of those restaurants that when you think of good food (particularly good duck), worth the trip to PIK. Good luck and warm welcome to Indonesia!

SUSHI GO! - DOTONBURI PIK AVENUE

Last week me and my sister went to the newly opened Sushi Go! to have a quick lunch and I've been hearing quite a hype about this and good review from fellow foodies so why not give a chance. Sushi Go is probably the first brand to bring the one price sushi concept to town and they're choosing Dotonburi PIK Avenue as their first port of creativity (and business).

I came with the expectation that I would experience the moving conveyor belt sushi but at the moment they only operated the conveyor belt at dinner time so if you REALLY want to experience such thing then you should come at the evening, but I guess it's okay because afterall the food needs to be the main point and reason you guys come here. The interior sparked fun and simple yet homey with Japanese vibe and major yellow color as part of the branding and deco, the restaurant is probably the largest in Dotonburi PIK at the moment with capacity for around 50 people, there are separated tables but I don't know I normally like to sit around the sushi bar if certain restaurants occupy conveyor belt service.
As what I've mentioned earlier, the restaurant applies the 'one price' concept so everything that you'll be having here (or I had here) is going to be IDR 15k (before tax), it's seriously very affordable. It's like having Japan's very own Kura Zushi with taste that fits local's palate.

Sushi Go! offers around 40 kinds of Appetizer, Sushi, Salad, Sashimi, Gunkan, Maki, Rolls, Desserts with FREE Ocha (Japanese green tea) and condiments on the table. If you come at lunch time the orders are made through the staff but if you come at dinner time you can just take whatever you want from the conveyor belt.
I thought the portion was going to be small and sad but apparently they were not, it was more than I initially thought for IDR 15k, at certain plates they were actually pretty generous but yes certain plates do some in single serving like their Aburi Beef Sushi, and I do hope you're getting the same experience from what I got here. Everything that I ordered was either good or very good (but don't expect that you'll be having the best sushi in your life or ones that are close to what I had at Sen Shu), nothing was disappointing even the desserts! I thought it was going to be a dry cheap chocolate cake but it was actually rich, moist and enjoyable. Order everything that you're seeing here on my blog and I promise you won't be disappointed, but I will use the word 'FAVORITE' for the ones that I found really-really good.
Salmon Skin - FAVORITE
Garlic Cheese French Fries - cheesy but lacking the garlic flavor
Beef Hamburg Sushi - FAVORITE, was a bit skeptical due to the simple presentation but the haburg was moist, fragrant and tasty.
Aburi Salmon Sushi - FAVORITE
Tamago Spicy Mentai
Shime Saba Sushi with Teriyaki Sauce
Tuna Sushi - FAVORITE
Minced Tuna Sushi
Minced Tuna with Soft Boiled Egg Gunkan - FAVORITE, the soft boiled egg is giving that little hint of creamy texture! It was unique yet delicious.
Ebi Tempura Roll
DESSERT
Green Tea Cake, not the biggest fan because they're using the kind of green tea that I don't like.
Choco Mousse Cake - FAVORITE // rich, creamy, moist, pure love.
Because I have such huge appetite I think no matter how cheap the one price sushi here is, I think I am going to end up spend a lot because everything was good and most of them were total HITS so you just can't miss. Definitely see more visits in the future with more friends and you guys should too! It's a refreshing concept along with the well controlled quality. Good job Sushi Go!

GOOBNE - PANTAI INDAH KAPUK

Excited to share you about this newly opened Korean restaurant in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) which is currently one of my top favorites in the neighborhood, and it's originated from the ginseng country itself! Ladies and gents, I give you GOOBNE! Korea's uber popular oven-roasted chicken specialist! In Korea alone, they already have more than 1000 outlets, not only can smell some freshly roasted chicken, but money as well! Just kidding HAHA! Their Jakarta outlet is their first South East Asia branch, should we feel honored? hmm...

Anyway for those who are wondering about the pronounciation, if you read "gupne", so far you're right! Big Korean celebrities like Girls Generation (SNSD) were their brand ambassador, following EXO which is their current, I found that it's such a smart move as the KPOP culture is highly influential not only in Korea alone, but most Asian countries, including me several years ago, I was a huge-huge fan of SNSD! #proudSONE

Okay, before you guys start wondering why I keep on referring to "oven-roasted" chicken it's because you'll find nothing but chickens that's cooked in oven roasting method so NONE fried! Being oven-roasted, you can believe that the meals here are a tad healthier than them being fried and lower in calorie too, but maybe not after all the cheesy goodness HAHAHA! When you dine-in you can see their TV commercial in loop, they're showing you the roasting process, seems so delightful.

Rita Shark Blood - IDR 69k
This is actually a very simple drink made from Blue Curacao syrup and berry 'blood' (but sorry I freaking missed the blood action shot since I didn't realize that the blood would come from the shark's mouth as you pick it up), but it's so refreshing and the berry puree really lifted the whole drink's flavor and freshness, sweet without being overly sweet, fresh, fruity, a nice thirst quencher for the day!
Goobne Original
Goobne Deep Cheese - IDR 179k
This was one of the highlight of the restaurant as well as one of the best sellers! The cheese is this mix of cheddar and blue cheese! Don't let the picture fool ya as it's way bigger in real life as this is their real serving portion (equal to one whole chicken), the chickens look fried don't they, but nope they're all OVEN ROASTED (I repeat!), and oh my goodness, the texture and consistency of the chicken is PERFECT! Not greasy, not oily, so freaking tender and fragrant! The cheese powder were generously given but somehow on the right amount for the serving, topping each and every chicken! You know I'm never the biggest fan of blue cheese, but somehow the amount of cheese mixture is spot on: tasty savory with a hint of sweet! If you fancy cheese then this might be what you HAVE TO order here!
Goobne Pepper Crispy - IDR 169k
Now MY FAVORITE! Another highlighted menu and another best-selling menus here, well I mean look at that damn golden crispy (yet moist) chicken, and I can tell you that they taste as beautiful as they look! The coating is crispy and altogether fragrant, the pepper seasoning is almost like this blend of mild pepper and bell pepper but if you want more kick the serving comes with their signature sauce and fresh pickled cabbage, but honestly with seasoning that good I don't need any additional seasoning, maybe I'm always the non-sauce type, because when it comes to food I found that sometimes less is more.
Half and Half - IDR 189k
Their "Half & Half" comes in this pairing that you can customize, I had the Goobne Original and Goobne Volcano, the Goobne Original is literally the original recipe, the base recipe or should I say the 'OG' version of their oven-roasted chicken while of course as most restaurants normally apply, Volcano being the spicy beast! Even though it's less on seasoning, I found that the Goobne Original pretty tasty.
Volcano Cheese Tteobokki - IDR 89k
This dish consist of noodle (curly type), odeng, cabbage, tteobokki, and generous cheese topping (I notice two kinds of cheese in this dish, one being mozarella), the sauce was this mix of sweet and spicy Gokchujang sauce which I found beautiful for this kind of dish, especially since you have the tteobokki and cheese to match! Everyone's take on spicy might differ, but I found this not too spicy, but not exactly the mildest either, the tteobokki was cooked perfectly, hence the beautiful density!
tteobokki and odeng!
Cheese Dak Galbi - IDR 179k
I understand that most of the menus here are meant to be shared due to the portion, and here's another one if you're feeling a bit extra with some cheesy actions! The dish consist of stir-fry chicken marinated with their signature sweet & spicy Gokjujang sauce with toppings like sweet potato, onion, tteobokki and cabbage!

Cheese Fondue Chicken - IDR 189k
When I look at this dish, somehow I believe that this is going to soon be their best-selling menus here not only for the flavor, but the fun of it too, I don't know just something about rolling cheese dishes that's giving me this ASMR feel, just satisfying in a way! For this dish, they're using boneless thigh chicken that's glazed in sweet and spicy sauce, topped with almond and on this three kind of cheese (unmelted when served). The cheese was such a delight to the sweet and spicy chicken, complements one another very well, altogether just as mouthwatering as it looks, scroll for more cheese porn!

None of the food was disappointing, while currently typing this, I am actually craving for their Pepper Chicken and Cheese Fondue Chicken, based on my first visit here, I feel like quality speaks here, and when it comes to quality, rest assure even if the KPOP trend died down as quality means having loyal following, and I believe I am one now. I hope they can keep up with the quality here, while their food might not be the cheapest, but keep it mind most of the food here are meant to be shared! Goobne is defo worth a visit!!!
