COCA RESTAURANT - CITYWALK SUDIRMAN

If you ask me to name my favorite suki restaurants in Jakarta, well I have a few, but one of the strongest on my list has got to be COCA RESTAURANT! Not too long ago they opened their latest branch in Citywalk, finally a closer one to home!

The Thailand originated Suki restaurant has been my favorite for quite some time now and it's mainly because of the quality that speaks for itself. Being an avid fan of Tom Yum (and since I often opt for Tom Yum soup), so far I haven't found Tom Yum soup that's better than Coca and that complements all the ingredient better than Coca's, well again it's all about preference, maybe some of my readers don't like Tom Yum at all and that's completely fine.

So what differentiates this branch to their other branches? For me, this one is the simplified version of their other branches and honestly built to cater those who fancy hassle free lunch (office workers, lunch meetings, etc.), quick scan of their menu and I found that the pricing's also slightly cheaper here with options that are less, but not significant! They even have this shabu package for lunch which is priced fairly at IDR 80k.

The ala cartes are also affordable, ranges from IDR 37k-50k! Expect to find selections of Thai rice dishes, noodle, kwayteow. For those who are feeling a bit extra and wanted to indulge on roasted duck, they also have one here but I didn't get the chance to try it on my visit (but I did try the duck rice maybe it's the same kind). I found the menu online so you can click on the photo below to enlarge and check out!
Crispy Fish Salad - IDR 31k
An appetizer that's affordable and tasty in the same time! The salad was fresh & altogether has this right balance of flavor and that hint of tanginess that I absolutely like!
Tom Yum Soup Base - IDR 80k
To be frank, this is also the simplified version of their famous Tom Yum soup, still pretty decent!
Coca Special Personal Set B - IDR 95k, with additional ala carte options (prices may vary)
Coca Special Personal Set B consists of Beef Fillet, Special Dumpling, Lettuce, Chinese Cabbage, Black Fungus, Pocai, Rolled Fish, Fish Glue, House Shrimp Ball, Tofu, Rice! For more pricing details of the ala carte menus check out the attached menu above.
Mixed Vegetable Platter - IDR 21k
Prosperous Roll - IDR 27k
Fish Glue - IDR 23k
Another personal favorite! Still very "fishy" and meaty the way that I like and not too floury and fake.
OOOOPPPPSSSS...the ala cartes are for the bigger shabu we shared, sorry was hungry don't judge meeeeeeee LOL!
Chicken in Pandan Leaves - IDR 35k
Beautifully fried, well seasoned, fragrant, decent balance of savory and sweet. Simple yet YUM!
Deep Fried Shrimp Cakes - IDR 39k
Another simple savory goodness that's fragrant and nicely seasoned! Recommended appetizer!
BBQ Duck Rice - IDR 50k
I found their food to be really hassle free, simple but nicely executed and this BBQ Duck Rice is definitely one of them, when you look at the presentation and the purpose, you know it's such a simple feast and designed to be that way! Around 5 slices of duck seasoned with hoisin soy sauce, served with vegetables, pickles and chili. Flavor's there man!
Pad Thai - IDR 45k
I have had their Pad Thai before as additionals that I pair with their suki (yes I eat a lot do not judge) and I found them to be pretty good too! Not overly sweet, but fragrant with this hint of smokey aroma and flavor.
Tom Yum Soup Rice Noodle - IDR 46k
I think they use the same tom yum soup base as the one that I had at the Suki Set, this one might be my least favorite, just because the suki set is everything better compared to this hahaha, but if you're looking for hassle free tom yum dish, then this for sure!

PATIO VENUE JAKARTA

Patio Venue is a part of Plataran group, the well-known company who owns various properties and high end Indonesian restaurants all named Plataran, and this restaurant is one that's slightly different to the rest of the siblings from its concep and food highlights. If Plataran restaurants normally focuses on local Indonesian cuisine, Patio also serves that, but with various Italian-Western cuisines on the menu too!

Patio Venue is this combination of glamorous and zen, upon entering the restaurant, you'll be pampered with the lush green plants surrounding the restaurant, and on the time of my visit, it was raining very hard so it kinda enhance the vibey experience, and one thing for sure, absolutely homey.
Receptionist and servers to escort you to the seats, reservation is not necessary but suggested.
Grand piano on the center area of the restaurant
They also have this mini-bar area incase you want to have the slightly more casual experience. They have selections of mocktail, cocktails and liquors here.
Table setting was simple and neat, the main dining area was spacious and private events can be done here. I like the touch of class of this restaurant yet without appealing overly intimidating,
Mentioned earlier that the food here is mainly selections of Indonesian and Western-Italian food with reasonable price range from IDR 55k-IDR 1.5 mil (pretty reasonable price for Coute of Beof to be honest). Indulge of various appetizers, soups, pizza, pasta, mains and desserts they have in store.

Bresaola Salad - IDR 79k
Kicking off my lunch that day with something fresh, light but flavorful in the same time! Air dried raw beef, with cherry tomatoes, Arugula leaves (rocket leaves), Parmesan cheese, balsamic and truffle oil dressing! So aromatic, so fresh, with generous thin beef slices, just altogether delicious!
Lumpia Tahu Ayam - IDR 49k
Now this is a simple delicacy that's delicious! Classic, humble, friendly!
Nasi Goreng Tinta Cumi with Seafood - IDR 99k
The black color of this fried rice came from the squid ink (so no artificial coloring), and the fried rice's served with cloud sunny side up, crackers, and veges on the side. This was one of my favorite menus from the lunch that day, generally, I found the fried rice to be fragrant with this beautiful harmony of savory, salty and a tad hint of sweet, inside you should find mainly generous dice-cut squid for that extra chewiness!
Filleto di Manzo - IDR 300k
Prime tenderloin cut that's cooked perfectly 'medium' just how I like it, and that sits on top of the sauteed vegetables, mushroom medley, with olive oil! The beef was tender, juicy with light seasoning (which I find very important as afterall all I really want from a beautiful steak is the natural flavor of the meat that comes with the tender and juicy texture). I also appreciate how the mashed potato is not the overly mushy kind as I personally prefer the one with more texture and lumps on it. This steak is love!

Capelli D'Angelo All Aragosta - IDR 100k/ounce
A very recommended pasta dish for those who fancy pasta dishes for their meal! Angel hair pasta lightly cooked and tossed with olive oil, chili flakes, garlic and various seasoning, then topped with Arugula leaves (man I love how they're so freaking generous with rocket leaves here), and finalized with freshly grilled lobster and tobiko! It came in a pretty generous portion (and can be shared for 2/3 people), the pasta was overall properly salty but the highlight has got to be the uber fresh lobsters for sure, it's so beautifully cooked, juicy and three was the proper amount for the portion!
Rendang Pizza - IDR 115k
The pizzas here are baked in this traditional wood fire oven and there's actually an open kitchen at the back area of this restaurant where you can experience first hand the production process. I've always loved when pizza's made this way I just feel this additional excitement towards it (and eating it).

This Rendang pizza was pretty rich in terms of seasoning and that's obviously a good thing because I can't stand underseasoned Rendang pizza it's almost an insult for me. The thin crust was beautifully firm and properly dense, the generous Rendang cuts were quite tender,
Waffer Cassava - IDR 59k
To be frank, the elements of this dish is pretty simple, basically biscuits, chocolate hazelnut, fermented cassava with vanilla ice cream on the side but everything was such a beautiful harmony to my palate. Never the biggest fan of fermented cassava but they managed to make the right opacity for this dessert! The right sweetness, play of texture and simplicity, me likey!
I think Patio Venue gained my respect as one of the recommended places to have Italian food in town, their food rings simple, some are humble, some are exquisite, but everything that I had (and judging from this visit) was delicious. Service was top notch friendly and attentive, really what's not to love.

HOTEL MONOPOLI - KEMANG, JAKARTA

My kind of Saturday chill is basically meeting my best friends, talk shit and have some good food in between, when my best friend uploaded a picture of this newly opened establishment in her Instagram Stories I was just around Senayan so I proceed to 'check in', well not check in-check in since I was not having a staycation but I spent some time at their dining and rooftop bar outlets.

Hotel Monopoli is located at Taman Kemang (precisely across Parc 19) and this hotel is owned by Syah Establishment, the group that owns Bauhaus, The Gunawarman and Lucy in The Sky. Property and architecture wise, I love The Gunawarman, even though I might not have the most pleasant lunch experience at Sofia (but I'll pay that back on my next visit because I know that place has some freaking potential!) and from outside, Hotel Monopoli looked like the humble version of The Gunawarman but still looking so chic, so metropolis and somehow, British! I just fucking the love the fact that they're located in Kemang!

The whole building feature a boutique hotel, a restaurant at the lobby level, a rooftop bar called The Moon, and the waiter also told me that there will be another basement club called The Room. I can't really give you insights on their rooms since I did not do any room tour, but anyway I kinda try to book a stay here, the only available room in their website is their Deluxe Room and that's still IDR 650k/night so it's a pretty good deal damnit.
The Moon
We arrived here around 5:45 PM and the server told me that they're about to have a Pool Party that night, and yes the rooftop bar has a mini pool with floaties where I guess guests can jump in if they want to? Correct me if I'm wrong but I saw two people in the pool, anyway, on the other side of The Moon was the seating areas and a bar. FYI, the drinks that you order from The Moon can't be brought to the restaurant on the ground floor, that's because I wanted to order the Thai Tea mocktail from the moon when I was having dinner at the restaurant but the waitress told me it can't be done.

Price for the drinks was okay, Mocktails starts around IDR 45k and Cocktails IDR 100k and above.
The mini pool and floaties
Didn't spend a lot of time at The Moon so we went downstairs, since the hotel is really really REALLY new they're still finishing up some construction here and there which is still very tolerable I guess since it didn't really bother me that much, so if you come here don't be surprised if you kinda have to wait a bit for the elevator to bring you back downstairs as on the time of my visit they're still installing the elevator buttons from The Moon.

The Monopoli
I am super in love with the design of the lobby and the restaurant, well generally I love Syah Establishment's taste for archicture and interior design as their outlets always have this chic vibe that's fresh, fit all gender and ages, vibrant, classy, modern with a touch of vintage as well, I just don't know how to explain that properly I just love it. Period.

Enjoy these interior photos of the lobby and restaurant!
Going to make the food review quick, but before getting to that I just want to let them know how much I love the waiter & waitress attire (uniform), just proper and chic, and they were pretty friendly, I honestly never really expected stiff ass service, I like people who are more casual and friendly and they were that, so we're off to a good start.

Secondly, I forgot to take pictures of the menu (FML) so I didn't remember exactly the pricing, but you'll see the Monopoli Cheese Burger (IDR 125k), Dry Ramen, Melted Hot Chocolate (IDR 75k), and some mocktails from The Monopoli. WILL DEFO UPDATE THIS POST ONCE I GET THE NAMES!!!

The cocktail on the left had this rich Peanut Butter flavor that I love, just creamy and spot on, and mine was the Mojito mocktail that's very refreshing with beautiful balance of fruity, sour and sweet! Recommended.
Monopoli Cheeseburger - IDR 125k
Expected some festive looking burger to be honest (especially for that price tag), I had no problem with the ingredient and the cooking as I think it was spot on, but I just feel like it's lacking that 'umph', that kick, overall it was just okay where I expected the bolder savory flavor in one bite, you know that feeling when you eat something so good on that first bite and you go 'wow' like my experience having Bleecker Street Burger in London I'll never forget that ever.
Dry Ramen
This was highly recommended by the waitress so we decided to gave it a try. First miss, the egg, it should be runny for that extra yolky-creaminess but it was slightly overcooked too bad, and again, the  overall flavor just wasn't bold enough (expect for the well-seasoned grilled chicken), it's like having Abura Soba but in form of ramen but in need of that bolder kick of flavor.
Melted Hot Chocolate
The white dressing tasted like this blend of powdered sugar and powdered cream/milk.
Now to the muthafuckin champion, this was SO SO SO GOOD!!! The dessert was so perfectly cooked with spot on everything: the texture, the presentation, the flavor sweetness, the rich chocolate, the glazed nut, the ice cream. This was a total mood booster for sure.
Planning my staycation here since the rate is still pretty cheap at the moment, up next is giving another chance to Sofia and coming back to enjoy Monopoli in the day. Best of luck!!!

Beautiful hotel entrance!
Just in time for Christmas & somehow their entrance just rings romantic Christmas as you walk in.
