LOUIE COFFEE - PONDOK PINANG

I have been extremely busy this month, if not this has probably been the busiest month so far this year. Right after coming back from Bali, everyday is basically waking up in the morning, doing shoots, go to 1/2 events per day, and no I am not whining, I am just 'expressing' how physically exhausted I am this month but in the same time so very grateful that life keeps me busy #blessed.

Today I woke up early to do shoots for a running project, went to an event in the North and was free right after, I really needed some quality time to just enjoy my Sunday before facing Monday (well as this post is being written it's 12:22 AM so technically it's Monday). I think I am always in desperate need of coffee so I called my friend to accompany me to this coffee shop which I've heard for quite some time in Pondok Pinang called Louie. Sunday was a bliss when it comes to traffic as it only took me around 35 minutes from PIK to Pondok Pinang (like can you believe that?).

I know I should probably continue working on closing deadlines but at the moment it's something that I don't want to touch, I feel like writing this blog post so here I am writing this short brief piece. My visit to Louie was candid, but utterly satisfied. Let's start with how spacious and photogenic this coffee shop is, I arrived around 6:20 PM and the sky was getting dark so it explains why I didn't take a lot of photos and actually enjoy the moment with my company, but anyway I believe this place is going to be dope in the morning/afternoon.

I did not expect much but was totally impressed with their coffee! I ordered a single shot iced cappuccino which was light, properly acidic with a hint of nutty character and fresh aftertaste (me likey!), the iced chocolate was not sweet (in a good way) as they didn't use any sugar and rely on the chocolate's natural sweetness as the sweetener, and their homemade banana bread was delicious and decently moist, but it was the creamy espresso butter that elevated the whole thing, special thanks from my friend for the treat, I think he spent around IDR 125k for the three items.

When I uploaded this story on my Instagram Stories, two of my followers told me that the owner was a semi-finalist at the Indonesian Barista Championship in 2020, maybe that explains why their coffee is GOOD.

It was a brief visit but I am SO coming back to Louie for a quality time with myself, this coffee shop would be perfect for meetings and you doing whatever you want to do with your laptop/tab.

SUDOET TJERITA COFFEE SHOP - NEO SOHO

This will be a short review of the coffee shop that I visited with my mom and dad earlier today because today is the day off for all of us so we thought we're going to have a quick lunch and coffee date before heading to Pacific Place for a little shopping (bitch I earned it). We had lunch at Eaton which is such a memorable restaurant for my family and I because I basically grew up with them! Mom was craving for their uber good Talas cake (which is still pretty much perfect) and fried kwayteau, lunch was pretty enjoyable but I remember the food was better last year, but the cake is still a muthafuckin bomb. Hands down.

Initially didn't plan to visit Sudoet Tjerita and we almost went straight to Pacific Place, just in time on our way my friend Natasha Lucas uploaded a picture of a new coffee shop, which this is so we headed there for a quick coffee break. Sudoet Tjerita is a coffee house that's located across and in between Neo Soho and Central Park around the hook area and at the moment easily noticable from the flower bouquet placed in front of the store. Normally I am not the biggest fan of ruko's type of cafe as they kinda have stereotype design to it, dim lighting and stiff (maybe it's just how they wanted to design it but that's my opinion), but theirs was actually something that I am truly fond of! It's really giving this homey vibe that I love, it's just so comfortable, not overly spacious along with the enjoyable music and lingering coffee scent all over the shop.

It was pretty packed on the time of my visit but luckily I still managed to get seats for us and by the window. I didn't take any picture of the interior but for sure I saw a communal table under the "tree", side couple seating area designed sort of like a house, but for a different review and more pictures of their interior, you can check out my friend, Jessica Gaby's blog post :)

I noticed that their special menu here is Kopi Rempah (IDR 38k) and only available in 'hot' serving. To be completely frank, I really like this one even though the ginger and cinnamon were pretty dominant here, but somehow they blend very well and didn't manage to overpower my palate. It was really fragrant as well and yes I do think it's best enjoyed hot to really experience the flavor, layers and fresh aftertaste.

I also ordered the regular Iced Cappuccino (IDR 38k) and again I am pretty fond of this one, it's fruity and slightly acidic (blend of Gayo and Wamena) with soft and smooth taste! If you want something stronger defo go for their piccolo!

Ok I might only two coffees and none to pair but their coffee was actually good enough to make me wanna comeback, the kind of coffee that when I taste it, I feel a certain amount of effort, and can't deny the sweet ambiance of this coffee shop also build the experience! Good job Sudoet Tjerita <3

THE MORNING AFTER BRUNCH AT COMMON GROUNDS NEO SOHO

Before I start this mini-article I want to thank Hadi from Manual Jakarta for inviting me to The Morning After brunch earlier today at Common Grounds Neo Soho.

The Morning After is the collaboration between Common Grounds, BEAU and MALT Studio where occasionally, they'll provide unique breakfast experience at random destinations throughout the city of Jakarta, so if you participate in this brunch like I did earlier today, expect to always indulge on great BEAU feasts, top notch Common Grounds Coffee, while MALT Studio's in charged for all the design stuff, as detailed as the yellow paper where the toasts and coffee stood on.

On this session, the brunch adapted this canteen style service where the guests would have to carry the prepared trays and queue to get the coffee and toasts, and upon getting my coffee I understood the purpose of the design on that yellow paper, there are three smaller squares on top for three small coffees (filter coffee, milk coffee, batch brew) and two bigger squares for the toasts (one savoury, one sweet) and BOY I AM DIGGIN THIS IDEA! Special thanks to Talita and Glo for actually giving me everything to try (aka four toasts) instead of two.

Now my favorite from the coffee has got to be the milk coffee, simply I am not a big black coffee drinker, but I did try everything tho and no doubt, good coffee as always! Kudos to Aston and the team yays!

From the toasts, tough call because I genuinely love everything, but good old Mushroom with generous truffle dressing and runny poached egg never failed me, and from the sweeter side, the Poached Pear with Chantilly cream was DA BOMB but I was in love with the chocolate toast on the Banana Tiramisu! Dear Talita your baking talent is seriously hideously awesome!!!

Looking forward for the upcoming brunch, I seriously wouldn't mind paying for the ticket.
